TWO WOMEN, TANGO and ARGENTINEAN SONGS

Repertoire

Argentinean folklore is at the core of Sonia and Cecilia's repertoire. Their songs, traditional and modern, are selected among the most prestigious names of Argentina 's composers, such as Astor Piazzola and Carlos Gardel . What makes them unique: two women playing TANGO, a discipline so far claimed and dominated by men, and their unusual combination of voice, bandoneon, guitar and flute.

The two women's passion in their singing raises enthusiasm and emotions in the audience. They combine the spreading of Argentinean culture with social-political commitment, giving short explanations in the language of the audience about their songs and the stories they tell about Argentina, its traditions, its soul, its suffering, and the exodus linked to different areas of the country, and above all, love.

The Duo's journey

They left Argentina in 1988 on an invitation to play in a festival in Paris and toured France for four months. Since then they have performed over 500 concerts around the world from Argentina to Austria , from Germany to Japan , from Switzerland to Spain , Luxembourg and Holland , in venues as varied as theaters, museums, schools and festivals. In addition they have participated in radio and television shows and performed for international organisations.
